Become a Coach

Are you interested in how to become a coach? Are you looking for training programs that reflect a Christian perspective?

In addition to information located on this site we want to connect you with member coaches who work with prospective and new coaches and can help you get started. We encourage you to carefully review their information. Please research coaches and schools carefully before making decisions.

Christian Coaches Network is not a coach training organization and does not offer coach training programs. We do however want to make you aware of coach training programs which are led from a Christian perspective and meet the guidelines or have applied for recognition with the International Coach Federation.

A Resource to Read

If you want to become a coach and get training with an instructor or organization that is Christian, we recommend you read, A Complete Guide to Christian Coaching and Coach Training Programs.

The up-to-date guide is produced by CCN member, Linda Hedberg. It gives a thorough explanation of coaching and guides the prospective coach through what to do next in order to begin the journey to become a coach.

Erickson College

If you aspire to be an effective Christian Coach in today’s culture, you have already asked yourself one or more of the following questions: will people take me seriously as a coach; how can I explain to my fellow Christians that “coaching” in and of itself is not New Age; are there useful secular insights about the mind, body, emotions, and human nature that I can incorporate into my Christian coaching practice without compromising my beliefs or violating my client’s trust; how beneficial is coaching accreditation; what are the real differences between coaching and counseling; how much should I charge for my services; how do I market myself in a Godly manner to either Christians or non-Christians?

These important questions and others are answered for you in The Art and Science of Coaching; A Transformational Christian Program. This unique course is designed for Christian business professionals, ministers, and lay persons alike. It will help you become a relevant Christian coach in today’s culture with the resources and teachings needed to assist others in developing their own God given gifts, strengths, talents, and vision. The Art and Science of Coaching; A Transformational Christian Program is taught from a Judeo-Christian Worldview. We offer “solution-focused” Christian coaching that is founded upon seven key Bible Scriptures, and that is firmly rooted in the Ministry of the Holy Spirit, Biblical Truth, and God's Redemptive Plan for humanity.

Criteria for Mention on the CCN Website

Coach Training Programs led from a Christian Perspective meet the following CCN criteria:

• The coaching is taught from a distinctly Christian perspective
• The program is accredited by the International Coach Federation OR accreditation has been applied for (pending approval) OR the Training Director holds MCC certification from the International Coach Federation (or pending approval of the ICF).
• Training is provided either in person or by telephone
• The program is a minimum of thirty training hours and preferably more
• The owner or Training Director has membership in CCN

ICF Recognized Programs

All ICF recognized and approved coach training programs are listed at coachfederation.org. Bear in mind that this list is probably overwhelmingly secular in nature. That is not bad. It simply means you must be aware when choosing a school that you understand the perspective and worldview through which all training will come. And of course, delivery varys from instructor to instructor. Complete your due diligence.
